Jay Chaudhry

Chief Executive Officer and Founder

Jay Chaudhry is a security industry leader and accomplished entrepreneur with a history of introducing innovations that securely enable emerging technology trends. Prior to starting Zscaler, Jay founded and sold several companies - AirDefense (sold to Motorola), Air2Web, CipherTrust (sold to Secure Computing), CoreHarbor (sold to USi), and SecureIT (sold to VeriSign). Jay has also held engineering, sales, marketing and management roles with IBM, NCR and Unisys.

Jay has been honored as an Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year,” Information Week “Innovator & Influencer” and SC Magazine “Market Entrepreneur.” He earned an MBA and MS degrees in Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a B.Tech. in Electronics Engineering from IIT BHU Varanasi. Jay has also completed the Executive Management Program at Harvard University.

William Welch

Chief Operating Officer

William "Bill" Welch is a seasoned senior executive with a track record of success at global technology leaders, including HP, Symantec, Oracle and BEA. Welch is responsible for scaling Zscaler’s sales and channel organizations and accelerating growth worldwide.

Welch has more than 25 years of experience in executive sales roles at leading public technology companies. Prior to joining Zscaler, he was Vice President and GM for HP Software Americas, responsible for more than $2 billion in sales to Global 1000 organizations. Before joining HP, Welch was Vice President of Sales Specialists in the Americas for Symantec, responsible for integrating emerging technologies into Symantec’s product set and scaling the sales effort for high growth. Prior to Symantec, Bill held senior level management positions with Fortune 500 companies, including Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems, and BEA.

In addition, Welch has worked with the venture capital community including the Carlyle Group and the banking industry (Deutsche Bank) with pre-IPO companies. Part of his career was also spent internationally working with teams in Europe and Asia in areas such as sales, product development, partner enablement and international account management. Welch earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and political science from LaSalle University.

Remo Canessa

Chief Financial Officer

Remo Canessa is is a recognized industry leader with more than 30 years of financial management experience in both public and private technology companies, including 15 years as CFO at category-leading security and network infrastructure companies.

Mr. Canessa’s 30-year career includes 11 years as CFO at infrastructure leader Infoblox, where he led that company through a successful IPO in 2012, and three years as CFO at Netscreen, where he completed a successful IPO and sale of the company to Juniper Networks. His breadth of experience includes strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, corporate finance, and treasury. Mr. Canessa has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara. He currently sits on the Board of Aerohive.

Dr. Amit Sinha

Executive Vice President of Engineering and Cloud Operations, Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Amit Sinha is a skilled entrepreneur and technology leader who has driven the research and development of disruptive security and wireless technologies at both start-ups and market-leading organizations.

Prior to Zscaler, Dr. Sinha served as CTO for Motorola’s enterprise networking and communications business, which he joined via its acquisition of AirDefense where he held the same role. He has also served as Chief Technologist at Engim, which he co-founded.

Amit earned an MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the President of India Gold Medal. He holds 27 US patents and has contributed to several books and dozens of conference and journal papers.

Dr. Manoj Apte

Chief Strategy Officer

Dr. Manoj Apte is a veteran network security executive with over 15 years of experience developing high performance networking and security systems.

Prior to Zscaler, Manoj held engineering and product line management positions at Juniper Networks, where he created and launched Juniper's 10G IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) appliance. Prior to Juniper, he worked on real-time embedded platforms at various companies.

Manoj holds more than a dozen patents and has contributed to the Cloud Security Alliance since its initial charter. He earned a PhD in Real-Time Embedded Systems from Mississippi State University and holds a B.Tech. in Aerospace Technology from IIT Bombay.

Greg Pappas

Chief People Officer

Greg Pappas is a strategic executive who is passionate about aligning the people & culture organization to support business strategy and has devoted his career to providing leadership at both pre-IPO and public companies over the past 20 years.

Greg joined Zscaler from Specialized Bicycles, where he served as Chief People & Culture Officer, having served previously as VP of HR at many successful companies – CyberSource, Packeteer, Extended Systems, GlobalEnglish, and Inference Corporation – following HR management roles at Chordiant Software and Apple Computer.

Patrick Foxhoven

Chief Information Officer & Vice President of Emerging Technologies

Patrick Foxhoven is an experienced and innovative managed security entrepreneur and technologist, having spent 20 years building secure and scalable Internet-enabled networks while co-authoring three books on information security and receiving multiple patents. He is currently Chief Information Officer & Vice President of Emerging Technologies at Zscaler.

Prior to joining Zscaler in 2010, he was a founder and CIO of CentraComm, a leading managed IT security and services provider, and served earlier as an owner and principal network engineer of Friendly Net, an early residential ISP in the midwest United States.

Larry Biagini

Chief Technology Evangelist

Larry Biagini recently retired as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of GE. While at GE, Larry’s focus was on contemporizing infrastructure, employee services and deploying cloud technology enabling secure usage of those services by GE’s employees, customers and partners. At Zscaler, Larry will focus on helping customers and partners better plan and execute their inevitable move towards expanding their use of cloud services.

In his 26 years at GE, Larry held various positions in Information Technology including Vice President, IT Risk having responsibility for all aspects of risk, governance and security; Vice President & CIO, GE Capital; Chief Technology Officer, CIO & Services Delivery for GE company and Chief Technology Officer for GE Aviation. During his tenure at GE, Larry was instrumental in driving successful technology integrations of global mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. In 2012 Larry was named a GE Company Officer.

Prior to GE, Larry led International Applications for Emery Air Freight and was Director of Financial Applications for Olin Chemical. Larry’s career has spanned 35 years in technology covering manufacturing, logistics and financial systems. Industrial verticals include healthcare, media, aviation and energy. Larry is a recognized global leader in creating environments enabling businesses to take advantage of new technologies in a reliable and secure manner. Larry holds a B.S. in accounting for Fairfield University.

Robert Schlossman

Chief Legal Officer

Robert Schlossman leads Zscaler’s legal department with the express charter of enabling the success of our business, protecting the company and ensuring that we are on the forefront of critical issues involving privacy and security. Robert has been a key legal and business advisor to CEOs, management teams, and boards of directors of public, private equity, and venture capital backed companies. He has helped guide companies through major transformations including IPOs, M&A transactions, and global business expansion. He has previously held legal and executive roles with innovative companies including Aptina, Extreme Networks, Network General, Ciena, ONI Systems, and Venture Law Group. Robert began his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Eugene F. Lynch, U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California.

Robert has a BA and MA in English from Stanford University and a JD from Boalt Hall Law School at UC Berkeley.

Atri Chatterjee

Chief Marketing Officer

Atri Chatterjee is responsible for all marketing activities at Zscaler. He brings over twenty five years of senior marketing and business leadership experience at high-growth companies, from start-up ventures to large public companies. Before joining us, Atri was CMO at Act-On Software, where the company grew almost 15-fold during his four-year tenure. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of user authentication at Symantec, senior vice president at McAfee, Inc., and senior vice president of marketing at Secure Computing until its purchase by McAfee. Atri also held senior positions at CipherTrust, a leader in messaging security, and was on the founding team of Responsys, where he helped create the pioneer SaaS platform for marketing.

Atri has a BS and MS degree in computer science from Washington State University and an MBA in marketing and finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Punit Minocha

Vice President Business Development and Mobile Solutions

Punit Minocha is an established security executive with history of nurturing key partnerships to develop robust technology ecosystems at industry-leading organizations, including Palo Alto Networks and Trend Micro.

As Vice President of Business Development and Mobile Solutions at Zscaler, Minocha is responsible for the strategic direction and execution of business development initiatives, including technology partnerships, strategic alliances and SI relationships; as well as its mobile security strategy, ecosystem and go-to-market. Minocha earned his MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.

Trevis Schuh

Vice President of Customer Care and Success

Trevis is a proven customer service and support executive with over 20 years of experience supporting service providers and networking product providers. Trevis excels at scaling teams, process, and systems for fast growing companies, and he currently manages Zscalers global support, deployment, and customer success teams.

Prior to Zscaler, Trevis held senior level service and support positions at Procera Networks, Meru Networks, and Trapeze Networks. Trevis started his career with the US Army as part of the Signal Corps.

Kailash

Chief Architect and Founder

Kailash co-founded Zscaler and is a recognized expert in scalable and high-performance networking and security systems. His more than 25 years of experience includes work at leading technology companies including AirDefense, CipherTrust, Netscaler, Mylex, Unisys and Wipro, where he started his career when it was a start-up. As a chief architect, Kailash’s accomplishments include building the industry’s highest-performing web application delivery and load balancing platform at NetScaler and improving the scalability of wireless security appliances by a factor of 20 while at AirDefense.

Kailash holds over 40 patents and earned an MS in Computer Technology from IIT Delhi and a B.Tech. in Electronics Engineering from IT BHU Varanasi.

Lane Bess

Investor

Lane Bess has spent over 30 years successfully launching start-ups and scaling businesses. From 2008 to 2011, Lane was CEO of Palo Alto Networks, where he led the company to annualized revenue exceeding $200 million on the path to its IPO. He was previously EVP of Worldwide Sales and General Manager at Trend Micro, where he grew worldwide revenues to over $1 billion annually.

Lane has also held senior Sales and Marketing positions at NCR Corporation, where he oversaw multinational corporate sales, and AT&T, where he was responsible for the product launches of AT&T's Business and Consumer Internet services in the mid-1990s.

Lane holds a B.S. Degree in Managerial Economics from Carnegie Mellon University and a Masters Degree from the University of Dayton.

Andy Brown

CEO and Co-Founder, Sand Hill East

Andy Brown is a seasoned enterprise technology executive with over 30 years of hands-on experience running large organizations in Banking, Telecoms, Oil and Pharma. Andy was Group CTO of UBS from 2010 to 2013; Head of Strategy, Architecture & Innovation at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2008 to 2010; and from 2006 to 2008 the CTO of Infrastructure at Credit Suisse. Prior to that, Mr. Brown served for 10 years in various leadership roles at Merrill Lynch, including Chief Technology Architect and CIO of Direct Markets.

Andy is a board member of Guidewire (GWRE) and Moogsoft, and is advising a number of technology startups, including in his role as CTO in Residence at Fintech Innovation Lab in NYC.

Andy holds a BSc. Honors degree in Chemical Physics from University College London.

Nehal Raj

Partner, TPG

Nehal Raj is a Partner at TPG based in San Francisco, where he leads investments in the technology sector for both TPG Capital and TPG Growth. Prior to joining TPG in 2006, Nehal was an investor at Francisco Partners. Nehal received an AB in economics and MS in industrial engineering from Stanford University (Phi Beta Kappa) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar).

Nehal is currently a Director of C3 IoT, CCC Information Services, Domo, Noodle Analytics (Chairman), Sutherland Global Services, and Zscaler. He previously served as Director of Aptina Imaging (acquired by ON Semiconductor), Decision Insight Information Group (acquired by CoreLogic), IMS Health (NYSE: IMS), Intergraph (acquired by Hexagon AB), and Symbility Solutions (TSX-V: SY).

Nehal also serves on the Board of Trustees of San Francisco Day School and the Advisory Board of Breakthrough San Francisco.

Charles H. Giancarlo

Investor, Advisor

Charlie has more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor, communications, and networking industries. He is a Senior Advisor and previously a Managing Director and Head of Value Creation at Silver Lake Partners. As the former Chief Technology and Development Officer for Cisco Systems Charlie has a proven track record for delivering important new networking technologies and recognizing industry leaders. During his 14 years at Cisco, he was a key contributor to the growth of the company and was ultimately responsible for the products that generated 80 percent of Cisco's revenues. 

Charlie currently serves on the boards of Accenture, Arista, Blue Jeans Network, Imperva, and ServiceNow. He has also served on the boards of Skype and Netflix. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Brown University where he serves on the board of trustees, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley where he serves on the board of advisors, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Karen Blasing

Independent Director

Karen Blasing is an independent director and the head of the audit committee for Zscaler.  She also serves on the boards of Ellie Mae (NYSE: Elli), LogRhythm, and Metric Stream. Karen served as Chief Financial Officer for Guidewire Software, Inc. from July 2009 through March 2015 including the very successful initial public offering in January 2012 and two subsequent follow-on offerings.   

Ms. Blasing has also served as Chief Financial Officer for Force10Networks (acquired by Dell), Nuance Communications, and Counterpane Internet Security (acquired by BT).  She has held senior finance roles at salesforce.com, Informix Corporation (acquired by IBM), Oracle Corporation and Syntex Pharmaceuticals (now Roche). She holds B.A.’s in both Economics and Business Administration from the University of Montana and an MBA from the University of Washington.
