Zscaler Achieves Near-Perfect Results in Independent Security Testing

Zscaler’s Cloud Security Platform Detects and Blocks 99.11% of Malicious Content

San Jose, California, May, 20, 2016

Zscaler, the leading cloud security provider, today announced that its Zscaler Cloud Security Platform achieved a nearly perfect score, detecting 99.11 percent of all malicious threats in a series of malware detection and blocking tests performed by AV-TEST GmbH.

AV-TEST is an independent institute that uses comprehensive comparative analysis methods that focus on malware detection and protection of the latest security software. Zscaler was evaluated for static (signature-based), heuristic and dynamic detection protecting against known and unknown threats. These tests were performed in the following areas:

  • Static and dynamic URL filtering capabilities
  • Phishing and social engineering detection
  • Malware detection and protection
  • Sandbox detection of portable executable files, also known as “prevalent malware”
  • False positive rates (incorrectly identifying malware and vulnerabilities)

Overall, Zscaler received a top score in all of the above testing categories and detected 99.11 percent of all malicious threats. Other test results included a sandbox detection rate of 99.91 percent, a phishing detection rate of 100 percent and a false-positive rate of 0.11 percent.

"When AV-TEST evaluates security solutions, we look for reliable malware detection and small false positive rates,” said Maik Morgenstern, technical director of AV-TEST. “Zscaler Cloud Web Gateway provided excellent protection results in our tests and the false positive rate was at a very low level. This proves that all the advantages of a cloud solution can be combined with reliable blocking of malicious attacks."

“The recent AV-TEST results conclusively show that Zscaler provides organizations with a comprehensive, best-in-class security platform in the cloud,” said Jay Chaudhry, founder and CEO of Zscaler. “Zscaler customers are seeing the benefits of that security, as well as an immense reduction in cost and complexity by virtue of having a single Zscaler cloud environment spanning their entire enterprise as opposed to hundreds of security appliances distributed across their various networks.”
